9th Jan 2010. Garden Yr Tick SEO !

9th Jan.
Coalfields area - Singles of Water Rail, Jack Snipe, Woodcock & 7 each of Lapwing & Common Snipe feeding on running watercourse.
2 Short-eared owls hunting late afternoon.
3 Long-eared Owls active as light went
Sparrowhawk & Kestrel hunting in unison.
Wood Pigeon singing & in display flight at town park yestday.

Seo ( from our attic window ) at 2,000m range hunting over a well known hill top

wouldnt be surprised if i heard "Oo Oo" coming from one of our Long-eareds at the moment . .

Bumped into DaveyM & we had a prowl at dusk - picked up a couple of Shorts & then a Longie perched up.
Not long later, @17:00 we had a male come over - ignoring the wind chill & foot of snow he proceded to induldge in a couple of wing clapping display circuits !

This is a different male (differet location) to those we previously mentioned in December, and nice to see that hes obviously not being affected by the weather.

Still amazed at the regular WClapping at this time of year
