Flushers ! on the patch again - 5th July 2010

A generally unproductive evening visit, which came to life as darkness fell

Are you one of those Local Patchers who look out over that empty pool, scratch your head & wonder who it is thats been down scaring birds off before your visit . . . ?

Looking north the whole pool was lit up - i spent a little while in the hope of seeing an Otter (not that theres been any previously) with Water Rail calling behind me.

The behaviour of the geese & fowl signalled that something was along the shoreline

A twang on the stock fence as a Hare came up from the water & jumped through a damaged section

Along ambled the 2 young deer - they appeared to be enjoying their paddle untill they sensed something in the Willow scrub & bolted off.

A movement in the tall grass between the deer & me was (yet another !) Fox

He came past in front, i sqatted down against the wall & squeaked him in
Could see it was clearly a young animal, as it checked me out from 8' away

The disturbance produced these 8 species of waders
(some seen with eyes, some merely heard with ears)
Snipe, Curlew, Lapwing, Common Sand, Oystercatcher, Little ringed Plover, Dunlin, Green Sandpiper
