17th Jan 2010 (1) - cheap mans well

Was looking a lot like one of those bird free weekends - although a slot became available on this Sunday afternoon . . .
Cue an exit from the house at Warp speed 9.

Phoned around, could have met with folks, but a vision of hordes of dog walkers on such a mild sunny afternoon (first one for weeks) meant i was off West to bird the snow line.
A rare trip away from the patch, up to a cold & snowy Cheap mans well area.
(NB: part of a former local patch ! )

All is bright green at home, but 14km west was a different scene.

a small pool on the recaimed opencast coal site - probs about 15 year old now
its held Slav Grebe, Little Gull, Pintail, Whooper Swan & my latest Jack Snipe on 17 May.
