Bumped into Gavsterley & Jolley & we saw a fine male Wheateater, my first summer migrant of 2010.
Working visit produced:-
male Peregrine, Black Grouse, distant accipitor maybe the biggan, loads of Kes & Buzzard up
Meadow Pipit passage plus birds displaying on territory

holey moley
m Pochard on reservoir, Little Owl, fresh evidence of Barn Owl activity
Lots of waders active with Snipe, Curlew, Lapwing, Redshank & Golden Plover all allowing good views whilst displaying overhead over territory.
1 Green Woodpecker & several Mistle Thrush singing.
Good craic & bird related anecdotes from the farmers.
Met keepers from 2 different moors
The younger one very helpful, the other not quite as accomodating - although im sure he could work wonders on our local nature reserve !!! ;-)
